Spa Day for Ben

Ben goes to the groomer today. About every 6-8 weeks his coat grows to what I refer to as "Old Teddy Bear!"
Cocker Spaniels have a very heavy coat that grows fast. We had him in the longer Cocker cut years ago, but it requires a lot of brushing and more frequent grooming so now he gets a short haircut except for his ears and he's cool and happy all the time!

He knows something is up...grooming appointments are 8AM.

"Mommie has clothes on already. She didn't turn the computer on. This isn't a normal day..."

Oh, just a little longer nap...puweese.

When I was a kid we never dreamed of taking our dog to a groomer. When she needed a bath, we'd get the washtub out, turn the hose on and use a little Prell on her! Of course it was pretty messy and when it was all over we needed a bath too!

"I know this is a trick, we aren't really going for a ride!"

"How humiliating!"

"They always give me this stupid little bandana to wear!"

"Ah, now this feels good!"

When it's all over, Ben comes home and takes a nap on the patio!

  1. In this heat he really does need a good close cut.
He's a gorgeous dog and if I could have one I'd like one like him; I am allergic to animal spores so don't have any...baring my neighbors cats .Stinky ,, shew, .

  2. Ben is adorable and I know he'll be cooler with a shorter 'summer coat'! I have a toy poodle, Lexi, who requires grooming once a month because she's a little tomboy and plays so roughly in the backyard with her much bigger peeps (who drool on her!)and gets really dirty. Plus, she's cooler too!

  3. Not only did we not take pets to be groomed, I don't think they even had pet groomers back when I was a kid. Do they still make Prell?

  4. Your photos are wonderful, as is always the case. I especially loved the frame with the dog in a bathrobe. My day is starting with a big smile. Blessings...Mary
