S'more Fun

The girls loved sleepovers and we had a million of them through the years. One of the most memorable was a "Camping Trip in the Backyard Sleepover" when Stephanie was 7. It was on her birthday and she had her "Best-est Girlfriends" come for the party and then spend the night. We set our tent up in the backyard and provided a full afternoon and evening of games and food.

I remember pizza and of course cake and ice cream, S'mores after dinner when it got dark and we could have a little campfire. After a full day Jerry and I were worn out and anxious to settle the girls down in their sleeping bags and get some shut eye. Lot's of giggling and finally they were asleep. I think I had got one wink of sleep when Stephanie woke us up to say, "Felicia threw up!" Embarrassed and woozy from too much food, Felicia wanted to go home and sleep in her own bed. It's always scary to receive a middle of the night call, but hard to make one too. I felt terrible calling her parents, but I did. Luckily we were good friends and they weren't too upset...or too surprised! Jerry cleaned up the mess while I took her home and I think the sleepover continued without any more drama!

About this time every summer when the girls were at home, a case of the "I'm Bored's" would set in. School was still a few weeks away but the summertime fun was beginning to get a little old. Not enough excitement for kids to just have the freedom to sleep late, ride their bikes and do nothing all day long. Sounds like a dream job to me, but then I'm not a kid! Plan a little sleepover for them and they will have a ball! Just don't stuff them before putting them bed!

Happy Summer!

I have been taking a little break from blogging due to home/family commitments but I think I can now start back and hopefully never have to do this again.

I love grand baby sleep-overs and have one coming up on Saturday, one of the fun things of summer. I loved seeing the old photos, aren't they just wonderful?

  4. Oh my gosh, we used to do this. Camp in our yard with girlfriends or the boys would have their friends over. It was so much fun. MY aunt would say she can still hear myself and the girls giggling all night long. hehe.. memories..
