In a Holding Pattern

The economy is recovering, I read that in the paper yesterday. They write things like that to try to boost our spirits, to give a shot in the arm to merchants desperately trying to sell things to consumers who are holding tightly to their purse strings these days. Even in good times we don't spend to excess. We live in the country, we do our own yard work and we hold on to what's taken us a long time to aquire.

But we don't face the hardships that so many families have daily. My husband has a good job and we have medical insurance that would help us if we faced illness. I say help, it wouldn't be free. We pay hefty premiums and copays with our insurance. We've paid our way our whole life, no freebies. That's true for most Americans.

I see our parents worry that their life savings will be enough, that they won't out-live their money. Scary, and in a few years it will be us facing higher costs of living and medical bills. I don't think that anyone has an answer for the problems we face, but we sure need some help down here Lord.

Hope all is well in your part of the world, Joy.

Your hills should be alive with God's paint brush about now ... it is so awesome down there in full autumn.

  3. Good thoughts Joycee.
The Lord has said if we do what's right then he will protect our nation - there are so many people doing wrong it makes me afraid. It is up to those doing the right thing to take a stand and many are doing that. Don't know if you saw the march in the Capitol a few weeks back - over 2 million everyday Americans standing up for what is right. I loved it.

  4. I am past retirement age and a widow now for the past 2 years. I have faith that God will give me wisdom to stretch what I have till I go home . He said he would bless those who honor him and his ways in Leviticus 26 and I believe him. He sure has helped me in ways I couldn't have made it since my husband died so I can say he has proved to me what He will do.
I feel sorry for the people who swallow these lies and don't know my Lord and Savior.
We have the choice , don't we...

  5. I too feel that they say the recession is recovering so we believe it but I'm not seeing recovery. I know people that have been out of work for a year now. Houses in our beautiful neighborhood that have been up for sale for over a year. Housing prices not going up. No...the economy is not getting any better.

  6. I couldn't agree more..what is happening in this country?! The worst part is, NOBODY seems to know what to do! I feel so sorry for those who truly are suffering, wish I had a bazillion dollars and could help everyone out. : )

  7. Yeah, I'm totally agreed with Amy. I think the economy isn't recovering, not even a bit! And I've been worried to death about the matter you mentioned about here! I know I know, sounds like a gimmick! But can't help thinking of it!
