Getting Ready for the Fun!

This is my favorite time of the year, hot sunny days...really hot this year with record breaking early heat, days in the 90's and the humidity is off the charts. Going out on the lake during the day just melts me into a pool of sweat. As much as I love the outdoors, I hate to get sweaty. Doesn't make any sense does it?

But the kids will be here this coming weekend so we have to get the boat cleaned up and all of the cobwebs off. If they see one little thread spun, it's over for them! Poor little spiders have to find another boat to build on while they are here...

We've had so much rain this spring there is moss growing on the stones of the patio. I'm not too happy with the way the flowers look this year. The sweltering heat that our Arkansas summer is dishing out right now has taken it's toll on my tender impatiens.

We are almost all shade so hostas, ferns and liriope love this setting.

I want to add pink and white caladiums, they would do well here don't you I think?

Mostly, Mother Nature does the landscaping for us. I shouldn't mess with Mother Nature, She knows best afterall.

Our favorite time to cruise the lake is after supper. We take a tall glass of tea and head up Prairie Creek Cove. The heat of the day gives way to gentle breezes and as the sun sets the water is as smooth as glass.

We putter along with the radio on, listening to 107.9's oldies, perfect match for us!

Watching as the sky goes from pink to purple, the water sharing the moment.

The lake seems quiet, almost like a sanctuary. Once the kids get here, "quiet time" will be hard to find, but we've been taking our vitamins so we are ready and anxious for the fun to begin!!!
