Banking Memories

“Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course? Each of us has such a bank. Its name is time. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against “tomorrow”. You must live in the present on today’s deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success. The clock is running. Make the most of today!”

    1. I think the health, happiness and success means we have to make time for ourselves too! Sometimes going on a walk, reading my favorite blogs or talking on the phone to a good friend is all it takes to make a bad day into a good one! Permission to lull, granted!!!

  2. I can spend all day reading. thinking, puttering and feel that I have had a very productive day...just enjoying myself. The hardest thing for people to do is just stay home and "be"...One of my favorite quotes is "Beautiful to do nothing....and then rest afterward". I am grateful I can live this life.

    1. We are on the same page! This unbearable heat has kept us "cabin bound" just like winter. Maybe, just maybe the coming week is going to cool off.

    1. Sometimes when you read something like this, it's a lightbulb moment that we are wasting our lives running around in circles!

    1. Banking memories includes "me time", fun things we do with our kids and grandkids too! Not wasting a moment on the stuff that doesn't really matter!

  8. Since I am getting up at all hours of the night because I am not sleeping well, I think I am using up too many of my seconds! :)

  9. I was thinking along the same lines...how swiftly the days pass by. How many wasted hours slip by me. How many hours do we really have when our energy is 'up' and running. I find about 2 hours of activity and I'm on the down side of things re/energy. Good thoughts...all. Thank you for coming over to visit me. I don't understand about your circle of bloggers. Is that a google feature? If I added a following 'gadget' iin my sidebar would that help you to add me? I copy and paste links into my sidebar.....I hope you have a wonderful Sunday...a blessed time of worship and rest. Maggie
