Cabela's... Arkansas' First!

Northwest Arkansas was more than glad to welcome Cabela's, we missed the Grand Opening on August 30th... not because we didn't try to attend, there simply were too many others who beat us to it! It's been a long time coming for an area that lives and breathes outdoor fun. For years we have had to catalog shop if you wanted the type of fishing, hunting or camping gear that a Cabela's offers. Other than mail order, our only option was a two hour drive to Springfield or Tulsa.

The store's 100,000 square feet is part wildlife adventure mixed with a retail experience! Everywhere you look, there are many wildlife displays and trophy animal mounts as well as an aquarium.

We are blessed with many lakes, rivers and streams in Arkansas and the Boat Center had a great selection of merchandise inside and outside. The ATV's caught my husband's eye, he thinks we need one! I don't know how I'm going to talk him out of this...

Evidently, he wasn't the only one taken with it!

The love of the outdoors is passed along from generation to generation. Fishing trips, camping and hiking teach our children the value of our natural resources. Hopefully, we also pass along the importance of conservation. It takes Mother Nature a long time to make paradise for our enjoyment, and only a few careless humans to spoil it.

Old Man Catfish~ he was huge and seemed totally enjoying the crowds!

Alligator Gar, one of four species that live in Arkansas waters. They get big, up to 240 pounds! Go HERE to see the record one caught in Arkansas!

Tom Turkey and hen

Red Fox, we have these on our mountain!

White Deer~ they also are our neighbors!

Brown Bear

Beaver

River Otter

Black Bear

I was able to say no to the glazed cinnamon pecans this time... but I know my way back when I have a craving!

Would ♥ to have this hanging in my house!

So many pretty things that would be perfect for a lake house or anyone who loves the outdoors!

We're lucky to have Arkansas' first Cabela's right in our little hometown of Rogers, Arkansas! For many of us, it's a dream come true. The Natural State was made to be enjoyed, and Cabela's has everything you could possibly need to make that outdoor adventure fun!

  1. Lucky you!! Cabelas is the best. We had the opportunity to visit one near Milwaukee. One could spend the whole day there. Love the taxidermy sections. Oh, Granny don't be so tough on the Mister, let him get a UTV and ride with him, I know you would love it. We have ATV's and they're the best.

    1. Oh, now you've done it... you're on his side! We have too many "toys" as it is, don't know where we'd park another. But you are right, it would be fun and I know I'd be the biggest duck in the pond loving every minute!

  3. We have a Cabela's..they are almost overwhelming to me...so much stuff. I always think when I look at the camping stuff that for a little bit of money you could outfit yourself for a wonderful life outdoors...then I remember I already have everything I need!..still fun to look.

    1. That's us, we have done the camping and loved it at the time... but probably not near as much fun now! A big travel van would be great but then there's the cost...

    1. Not sure, but I bet they do. We are so lucky to get one because we are a very small town. We just set in the middle of Outdoor America though!

  8. Not my kind of store, but I have ordered clothes from their catalog. My Iowa sis and BIL go to one up in their area a lot.

We would love to have that type of ATV, but way too expensive I think. We do check them out every time we take our old ATV to be repaired or serviced though.
