Winter in the Country

Well, we missed out on the big snowstorm Christmas Day. If you were in the path of it and got hammered with ice and snow that prevented family from being together, then I'll apologize up front about this post. I was on the prayer chain FOR SNOW. I have to be very quiet when I say this... verrrry quiet. My snow dreams have to be done in secret since I'm married to a snow hater.

There's a reason he turned out this way...while I was making snowmen and snow angels in Missouri, he was building sandcastles in Florida. While I was sipping hot cocoa in front of a blazing fire, he was eating snowcones at the beach. It ruined him, totally made him into a Winter Grinch!

There's no hope that I can reform him, we live together in a mixed marriage. Me praying for snow, him refusing to read the forecast!

For all you snow lovers out there, five glorious minutes of Winter in the Country. Nothing but the quiet solitude of snowflakes falling over the lake and one lone Cardinal enjoying the flurries...enjoy!

  1. I prayed for snow too.. we got just a dusting, and it was gone by the end of the day. We do have the freak'n cold though.

LOL, the snow hater. Well, he could always be a snowbird and migrate to FLA for a month each winter? ...

    1. Not retired yet, but I can assure you we WILL be heading south after he retires for at least PART of the cold weather if Jerry has anything to say about it!

  2. I'm a snow hater... and would never pray for the stuff! This morning we woke up to a mountain of hard ice and snow that the snow plow plowed throughout our driveway and parking area making a full days work of removing it fruitless. Problem is, we run a business from our home and not only can we not get out but nobody can get in either. This is a dilemma. Another problem: Try to pay somebody to do something around here... forget it! Nobody wants to work. **SIGH** Sorry... I got off on a tangent. I'm sure, as a snow lover, you do not want to hear all this negative talk about the snow... so I'll leave you to enjoy. I have friends and family who are snow lovers as well. It's okay. We can all get along in spite of our differences, LOL>

    1. I knew I'd get the other side of the coin... there are more snow haters than snow lovers out there! I stay home and look outside, would be different if I was on the outside trying to clear some of the white stuff!

  5. DH was behind me while I was reading this post and he said sarcastically, "Don't you miss that?"....meaning all the snow. To which I answered a pretty Stoic, "No". I guess our time "Up North" in Chicago just didn't hold the same memories that you have of the white stuff :)

    1. We lived just outside San Antonio years ago and loved the weather, for awhile. The heat just got to us. I love the seasons changing here, even if it means cold and gray weather in the winter.

  10. We got the snow here in North Texas that you wanted. It was just enough to suit me. A white Christmas. I hope you have had some snow since that day.
