Take the Long View

I'm a terrible blogger, I post and then I'm off to work on today's "To Do" list. Sometimes it's also yesterday's "To Do" list too! I wish I had the time to reply to every comment, afterall YOU have taken the time out of your day to come and visit me at GrannyMountain. But I don't, I rush around, telling myself I'll come back later and answer every comment. Then it's dinnertime, then it's bedtime and I rarely come back to the computer at night. So...that's my excuse. Not a good one mind you, but it's the truth.

This morning I'm setting here reading comments on posts instead of looking at my favorite blogs. Back on 9-11-09 Kathleen at Easy For Me to Say posted a very insightful comment. That blog, "Yesterday" was remembering that day 8 years ago when the World Trade Center Towers went down. Our life at the time was a flurry of family turmoils; our youngest daughter had moved back home to escape an abusive relationship, my Mother was on a downhill slide with her dementia and my brother was facing his last year with terminal heart disease. What I thought was a very difficult time in our lives was all brought into perspective in those hours that day when so many lost their lives. Kathleen's comment can help me if I'll just take the time to read it, and apply it to today!

Kathleen said:
"Yes, much has healed, hasn't it? And still so much more is needed. I often have to remind myself to take the long view. And to remember all in God's time, not mine, and that peace begins at home and in my very own heart."

  1. Here, here and nicely said.

Oh, btw my dear Joy.. you are not a 'terrible blogger' .. show me where in the bloggers hand book that one needs to post a message everyday?

Just because some do it or have the ability to do this doesn't mean that we need to follow.

You lead, you become the example and you set your own pace. By Grace you are shown, by Grace that you are given.. some how will touch someone through Grace that was allowed.

    with love,
    Olivia

  2. I used to have a lot of time for my blog and for others but went back to work full time in February.

There are not enough hours in the day to keep up with everyone the way we might like to.

I agree with Olivia. There are no blog rules on how often we post. Sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder they say.

  3. What a wonderful post! When I first started blogging I tried to post everyday but soon realized that my busy life came first. I still post as often as I can and I still have my followers! I would also love to comment on all the blogs I read but I simply don't have time so just knw that I am reading just not always posting! :)

  4. I really wish that there were more people who would give posts like this one. I am happy to see that those things of the past have helped to shape today's events. Keep up the great work with your blog and stay strong.

  5. I hope your daughter is safe and happy now. I can imagine your fear for her during the bad times. I am glad she came to her loving parents for love, emotional support and shelter.

I think a lot of us were going through some family turmoil on 9-11-2001. For me it was my father who was facing having his leg amputated below the knee due to complications of peripheral artery disease.

We were in Canada when the Twin Towers were attacked by terrorists. I will never forget that day as long as I live. It changed America forever.

  6. Oh, Joycee--how kind of you to mention a comment from way back when. I simply can't believe you can call yourself a terrible blogger! You and your blog are wonderful in every way. I think we have to cut ourselves some slack. We have enough expectations out there to meet (most of them our own!) so we needn't' add them to something that gives us joy -- blogging. You're here. I'm here. Your followers are here. We just have to step out of the stream from time to time!
    Sending love,
    Kathleen

  7. I just post once a week and visit other blogs one day each week to catch up on their weekly happenings.

That works for me since my own life has so many wants and needs that need to be met on a daily basis.

I just assume that other Bloggers understand if I don't visit every day and leave a comment on every post they put on their blog.

Blogging is supposed to be fun...when it gets to be a chore I think it's time to quit.

  8. Thanks to all of you for the words of encouragement! I do stress about things in my life and these days I can't seem to get everything done that I want to do! Just know that your comments do get read and I appreciate every one of them! And Kathleen...I love the idea of "Stepping out of the Stream," some days it sure tries to pull me under!
