Gnarly Gnats

I visit a lot of blogs, love finding new ones and I learn something from each one! I don't know where I found this idea, my senior brain doesn't work as well as it used to...but as I set here this morning one of those irritating little house gnats is swirling around my head driving me insane (a short drive for me). Then Bing!... I remembered the tip, put fruit peelings in a tall glass or empty clear bottle and sit it out on the counter or wherever you are having the little swarming buggers. In a few hours they will be dining on fruit peelings and you simply cover it up with a dish towel and take them outside to live. Isn't that genius?

I'm going to go peel a banana right now...

  4. Good luck with that. My mom had trouble covering them up - they are very quick! Someone told her to put a dish of vinegar on the counter and they would go in it and die. It killed 3 of them. We found they were going to lay eggs or something in the tracts of her window and sliding glass door - many dead bodies there, and live ones appearing. We had to call an exterminator. Hope it works better for you!

  5. ~a much more pleasant way of getting rid of those little buggers...i have always placed a small bowl filled with red wine on the counter...they can't resist the temptation...they have a few sips and then fall in! i know cruel of me...this summer season i shall try your sweeter way of covering and releasing! thank you for sharing...warm wishes and brightest blessings~

  7. Joycee, It is my turn to ask if you and family are safe? We are seeing and hearing of flooding in Arkansas. So many people lost their lives-so tragic. I think Mother Nature is going on a rampage.

  8. Marjorie, the flash floods were in the south part of Arkansas, we are way up in the NW corner. Thanks so much for the concern, we are all getting too much rain this spring!
