Early Breakfast

Shortly after we married, actually on our honeymoon...my husband found out something about me that he found odd, maybe even disturbing. I hadn't kept it from him intentionally, but it was disturbing nonetheless. I eat cold pizza for breakfast. There, I've said it. It's not that terrible, is it? I can eat almost anything for breakfast except breakfast food. I have over the years come to terms about eggs. I don't like them but I can eat them scrambled, in an omelet that has been loaded with cheese and veges, or in a breakfast taco. But not early, I can't do Early Breakfast.

Let's just say that there is leftover birthday cake on the counter. Your favorite cake with that yummy, thick buttercream icing. Let's just say it's 9:30 and you have a hot cup of coffee or tea or a cold glass of milk and you are beginning to think you might be hungry. Not starving, but you might have room for just a sliver of cake. Not even enough to call it a piece, just a sliver. If you eat it before 10AM it's technically breakfast and you know cake IS NOT breakfast food! So, do you wait 30 minutes and then have a slice instead of a sliver?

What about Chinese takeout? Can you face beef and broccoli for breakfast? But then, how will you explain to anyone why the house smells like takeout at 9AM?

Let's say you haven't been to the store in a while and all that's left inside the fridge is a slice of bologna, a jar of pickles and after you eat that you have to eat a spoonful of peanut butter to make the hunger pains go away. How far will you go with this dangerous mixing of foods?

Now that I've told you one of my darkest secrets, tell me...what's the strangest thing that you've ever eaten for breakfast?

  1. Too many to write here; I'll eat anything at any timne and don't give a fig if it's 10 am or 10 pm. In fact, I'll eat the fig too.

  2. I could do it all except the bologna and a pickle! The only thing i have in the morning is a piece of toast with my coffee first thing...if there was cherry pie left over I might do sliver of that!

  3. I don't mind eating pizza for breakfast but it has to be at least a tad warm. My husband is the one who eats cold pizza for breakfast. Depending on my mood I can eat most anything for breakfast- just whatever I happen to be hungry for. And I can eat breakfast food for supper just as easy. But you asked about breakfast so probably the one thing that people have found strange that I eat for breakfast is a piece of cold apple pie (or any fruit pie for that matter) in a bowl with milk on it - kind of like cereal except you leave out the cereal and substitute cold pie. YUMMY good!

  4. With us it's the other way around... I want breakfast foods, but hubby can eat just about anything in the morning. Cold pizza, burritos, tomato soup...

  5. Any food is fine by me for breakfast....pizza sounds wonderful.

My husband has his rules about breakfast...like if I don't have it ready on weekends before 9:00 he starts looking at his watch and telling me to hurry or we will have to have a cheeseburger.....He has a cutoff time on all meals/ha And don't even think about breakfast food for supper.....no way!!!

  6. Years ago when I had a hangover in the mornings I'd eat anything. I craved anything with meat in it or on it. But these days I have the traditional breakfast foods. Only because I worry what I'm putting in my body. But after I eat breakfast and all the right stuff, then I like to eat something sweet. Fun post Joy!

  7. I had Prosciutto and egg on toast for breakfast this morning. I could eat Pizza as long as it has been warmed, but not before 8AM I cook the Prosciutto in the frying pan for a couple of minutes on each side. I like it more than regular bacon.
