I'm so glad the election is over, maybe we can get back to rebuilding again. I felt pretty good about the way things went in my corner of the world. No matter where I drive, campaign signs are everywhere. My trip to town the other day I was noticing just how many signs people have put out this time. We've been living through one of the hardest recessions recorded... people have lost jobs, their homes and for many of us we've seen our savings dwindle. Lots of finger pointing going on with the politicians and for us, the voters...we had to weed through it all and decide who we think will represent us the best. Honest and responsible, proven record, lots of things to consider when choosing a person for office.

Signs of the Times
We've lived in this community for 5 years now, and you just take note of how officials vote. You remember if there has been any wrongdoing or decisions that you might have disagreed with. We are small town America and if you are a politician here, you better keep your "nose clean." I wouldn't say we don't forgive a man his faults, but we don't forget either.
Driving around Rogers the other day, I couldn't help but notice how many people proudly fly the American flag at their homes.
One of the many privileges we enjoy as an American is our right to display a flag.
It's a reminder everyday that we live in a country that still follows our founding Father's dreams for equality and justice.
No matter how you felt about the issues this election, the most important thing is that you exercised your right to vote. Change or not, it happens when we make the effort and vote.
We are so lucky to be able to fly this flag and all that it represents!
What a wonderful and balanced look at the whole election process! I used to be a straight ticket voter but this year I actually voted for 4 people who were not in "my" party because I really thought they would do/had done a better job. I also enjoyed the pictures of the homes with the flags. Thank you for all of you wonderful posts!
ReplyDeleteJoycee, you are so right about the RIGHT to live in this country & flying THE AMERICAN FLAG!..:)JP
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to see the American flag proudly displayed on so many homes.
ReplyDeleteWe watched the election coverage on Fox last night till after 11 PM. Texas went the way we had hoped. Unfortunately, no change in some states that badly needed it.
I hope the elected officials keep their promises this time. I pray they can move our country in the right direction.
It was the same in our small town with so many political signs dotting the landscape, it was impossible to see anything else. And I'm with you in praying that we get on the right track this time.
ReplyDeleteNice post.
ReplyDeleteHi Joycee, I couldn't agree more with your post and I love the flag flying photos ;) I fly my flag proudly here on the front of our house too and every time I catch a glimpse of it waving, I get a funny feeling inside...one of pride.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you left a comment on my blog so I could find yours. LOVE your background--love the colors and can't wait to read more!!
Amy :)
Amen!
ReplyDeleteYes, we are lucky. Now if those elected will make a point of setting an agenda of cooperation instead of fighting and refusing to budge, maybe we can get back on track.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't of said it any better! Amen, sister. I love to see the American flag being displayed too. Warms the heart.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by today.
((hugs))
Absolutely right, Joycee ...excellent post. I'm very happy with the results of this election. This administration has been at the helm for 24 months now. Our personal 'recession' began in April 2009 when my husband joined the ranks of the unemployed. By the time he found work again in August 2010, our 'recession' had morphed into a full blown depression ...in just about every sense of the word. Though our personal circumstances are improved now that my husband had work again, this election gives me real HOPE for real CHANGE ...first time in two years.
ReplyDeleteThe politicians who survived yesterday's election had better take note and watch their actions from here on out. Same for the newly elected. Americans are speaking loud and clear now.
I have came by to thank you for stopping by today and leaving such a sweet note. I am going to set and read here for a while. I believe I have stopped by before and may have also came by way of Jayme. Your music is very soothing and since I am enjoying it so much I may be leaving more comments before the evening is up!
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to get caught up in the mud slinging but you are so right...the important thing is that we have the right to vote. Your town is beautiful. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you'll visit again, soon. Patty
ReplyDeleteYOU seem to live in the cutest town ever.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, gratitude for what we have keeps our hopes alive and our happiness intact. :)
I'm thankful I live in a country where I have the right to vote, so I do. But I also vote because it honors those who have and are serving our country or have died serving it. Without them, we probably wouldn't have that right.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, thoughtful post!
ReplyDeleteI do like seeing the flag flying....I want one too.
We are all very fortunate to live in the good old USA. I think we have lost our way a little, but am confident we will find it again. Americans voice their opinion when they vote! Politicians better listen.
