5 Nuns in a Bar

We had so much fun seeing all the kids dressed up for Halloween last night. We went over to our daughter's house for dinner, then helped pass out candy to the throngs of kids roaming the neighborhood. They had set up the entire front yard for an evening of fun and games for all the Trick or Treaters. A "staged accident" involving our son in law's truck and the riding mower, complete with fog machine and strobe lights looked so real. Jars of gooey, cold body parts for the kids to feel set on the treat table. The kids loved it, they touched the pink fingers, ears and nose and squealed with delight before they got their treats. It's so much fun to dress up in fantasy garb and pretend we're something we're not!

When we get older our eyes sometimes plays tricks on us too. These Sisters look like they have shown up at the local pub wearing less than appropriate attire. But that's not the case at all...

Sisters Mary Catherine, Maria Theresa , Katherine Marie, Rose, Frances, and Mary Kathleen left the Convent on a trip to St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and were sight-seeing on a Tuesday in July. It was hot and humid in town and their traditional garb was making them so uncomfortable, they decided to stop in at Patty McGuire's Pub for a cold soft drink. Patty had recently added special legs to his barstools, which were the talk of the fashionable eastside neighborhood. All 5 Nuns sat up at the bar and were enjoying their Cokes when Monsignor Riley and Father McGinty entered the bar through the front door. They, too, came for a cold drink when they were shocked and almost fainted at what they saw!

  4. That is just hilarious!

I didn't have my camera when we visited the in-laws last but a neighbor had installed an animated, inflated black cat on top of the car in the drive! It was really funny.

  5. You mean you didn't post photos of YOUR Halloween at your daughter's house? I feel cheated.

    Love the stools!

  6. I guess the lesson to be learned is "Things are not always as they seem". I'd seen the photo before but never heard the story that went with it. :-)

  7. Cool picture, I have seen it before, but still a good one!

No kids came here, I live too far out, doesn't make for much of a Halloween.
