Mama Mimosa

The Mimosa tree in the above picture is an old one that is in the cove below our house. You see them all along the banks of Beaver Lake, it's a tree that grows easily in the South. This late in the year it's unimpressive, there's nothing that would make you think that this tree is ever noteworthy.

But if you could see the tree on a warm summer day, all dressed up in her bright pink puff balls, the heady sweet smell of watermelon driving the bees crazy... you'd know her magic!

On their way to Ohio are Mama Mimosa's magic green seeds. They will be lovingly planted, carefully watered and they will thrive there just like they have for years on Old Prairie Creek Road. The lady of the house will make Spam and eggs and Little Mimosa will grow and make memories for Maddie and Hank who will call her the Brush Blush Tree...

  6. I had never seen a Mimosa tree until we moved here. The blooms are gorgeous! The butterflies and bees went nuts over this particular tree.

  9. Mom had a huge one in her side yard. Unfortunately it always got those dreadful web worms that ruined its looks.
