In the eye of the beholder...

Yep, that's me and Hubby. We know our age, we say our age, we feel our age...we just don't think we're OLD yet! Recently my MIL let me borrow one of the family albums to scan and download them to Facebook. That's an easy way to share with family. As we looked through the album Jerry noticed one of his Grandparents at our age. He remarked how much older they looked than we do. They were a couple who raised a large family and lived on a farm. Those two things were probably determining factors in how well they aged. We now know that there are many things that will help us stay youthful a little longer; good health care, exercise, meditation, diet, and of course wrinkle cream!

It is a fact that old is always 10 years older than where you are! We are both looking forward to retirement in the next 5-10 years, sooner than later Hubby hopes. I think we are going to make very good old people. We're still able to eat spicy food, we love to travel and going to see Grandkids is our favorite "vacation!"

  1. That's a good thought Joycee - we are getting older, but we don't have to get 'old'.

  2. This reminds me of my mom who is going to be 80 in July...she went to her 55th high school reunion and she came home and said "Gosh everyone looks so old" I looked at her and she was serious but you could tell she didn't put herself in that catagory!! When she was young she looked like Jackie Kennedy and that is how I am going to remember her...btw my dad is 84 and they are still going strong...I think they do more than I do!!!

  3. I gently beg to differ just slightly. "Old" is what you feel when you make a move and realize that all the schlepping, hauling and toting you could do--even ten years--ago have now become much more difficult. That's just what tomorrow's blogpost at Beauty & Bread is all about. It kills me to realize how much strength I've lost.

Other than that, at 67 I feel like I'm in the prime of my life and ready for years of new adventures.

    Loved the cartoon!

  4. Loved the post. so true, 10 years ago I thought being in your 40's was old now that I am there (44) I dont think so at all.

  5. Us too...we are now getting to be that older generation! As the old ones die off here, we say guess we're next! LOL :D

  6. Cute cartoon!!! Many could relate to that one!

  7. I love "Pickles" & used to clip it out & send it to my parents. And I now find that it's really me & my hubby. :) Funny how time slips by so quickly... Thanks for reminding me about Pickles as they aren't in our local paper.

  8. Look at you!
I love your blog! So your in Arkansas also!? Sweet!

    I live in Hot Springs!

Yes, we will have to get together!

    Love your comic strip :)
Thank you so much for stopping by :)

  9. I remember when I thought 30 was old! lol Now I try not to think about it!

  10. Ditto to what Chatty Crone said. I don't think I'll ever be old.

  11. I wonder how my life going to be in another 10-20 more years!

  12. I seem to have that same condition!! But I don't feel old!!!!! In my seventies now and unless I stop and think of things like that, I really don't think of myself as old. Having too much fun just living. Where that old person is in the mirror came from I'm not sure!! ha
