Proud to be an American

This picture was making the rounds on Facebook last Friday. I've seen it before, but each time I do I get a big lump in my throat and my heart feels very sad. I feel a deep hurt over what's going on in this county right now. We have lost direction, we've forgotten how to overcome.

I still have it in me to be a proud American, I'm not beat completely down yet.

In the 60's there were demonstrations, marches that spoke to the unrest in this country. I'm not saying we need riots or violence, but have Americans just given up?

We need change for the better,

...not just change for the sake of change.

When I looked around today, it seems I'm not alone.

  1. As sick as my dad is he still puts his flag up the pole every morning and takes it down every night! He makes me proud!...

  2. This is not the best of times in our country right now, and a lot of folks don't like what is going on with our government. But i still love my country even though we have drifted a little, and i hope we can get back on track one day. Richard

  6. I say we need to be more like the French; they were and still are SO GOOD about protesting. Here however, there are too many people who have too much at stake and would rather not stir the waters, so change just can't happen.

Joycee dearest, THANK YOU FOR VISITING TODAY!!!! You are so, so kind. Kindness, honesty and courage are the way to CHANGE things!!! BISOUS, Anita

  7. I love Anita, but I don't want to be more like the French. We are not a Socialist country, we are Americans, we are a good country and a good people. There is a lot of craziness going on right now.. and I don't know a single person who is happy with the direction we have been led into for the last 3 years, not a single soul...( and I meet thousands of people each year.)
As far as folks giving up? Well, it wasn't too long ago that Americans were politely gathered all around the country in unison to uphold the Constitution. THEY are the Tea Party folk, concerned Americans who love this country and fly their flags and pick up their mess, and understand what is at stake here. So you see, my friend, you are not alone,

As far as the Wall Street Loonies, I think they need to go home because they don't have a clue what they are protesting.
