Love It, or Hate It?

We woke up to a Winter Wonderland yesterday, 3 fluffy inches of freshly fallen snow! The first thing Hubby does is go up to get the newspaper and the fussing started. We are a mixed marriage, I'm a snow lover and he's not! I blame it on him living in Florida as a child. Robbed of being able to build a snowman or make snow ice cream has made him somewhat of a
"Cold Weather Grinch."
How could anyone not love the beauty of this sparkling cold stuff? Big, wet flakes hit you in the face and melt upon impact. It even smells delicious, all piney and fresh...

It's early and it was very overcast, so 6:30 looked like it was nighttime!

Our paper lady is so dedicated, she never misses us. We have a place under the mailbox to keep packages or our newspaper dry and safe from the thieving raccoons. They will steal you blind, ya know!

Snow amplifies the quietness of the woods, not a sound to be heard.

No one else was braving the cold just for a newspaper!

The birdfeeder was still unoccupied this early, but we filled it twice yesterday. The birds and squirrels are so hungry when it's cold. I will need to check the suet blocks tomorrow and replace them if they are getting low.

We are in for a week of snowy weather, more expected on Thursday with lows in the single digits this week. It's "Stay Home" weather for me, that's the real reason I love it!

  2. Yikes! Thank goodness I'm in the middle of the state where the 'line is drawn' and get more of the water instead of the flake. I'm on your hubs team.. by the way.. did he take these pix or you my dear.. if he did.. what a brave man indeed. That would be like facing crocs in the glades ..

Oh, by the way.. good morning!

    with love,

  3. Love the snow, but only when I don't need to go anywhere or shovel the sidewalks. I had to do A LOT of that while we were in Germany...

  6. Beautiful photos, but I must admit that I think like your husband - don't like the cold, wet, stuff. So good that you can enjoy it. I'm getting a vision of you in fuzzy slippers and sweats - I like that part of the winter.

  8. I'm with you - - - LOVE IT.

Does your hubby have a snow blower? That has CURED my hubby of his snowy day grumps. Now he can don his arctic gear and go out and play with his gasoline powered toy, and that makes him a happy camper.

  9. As a refugee from sunny Southern California, I *love* the white stuff--but only when I don't have to drive 20 miles in it to get to work. Luckily I've bequeathed that pleasure to my children for the moment!

There is NOTHING like the silence of a snowstorm. It's magic. Enjoy.

  14. Beautiful scenery you had there Joy!! I love the snow when it has first fallen. I used to love going out at night in the winter if there was fresh snow falling. Used to make a lot of angels..LOL It's hard to breathe when it's real cold now though. But I don't go out much in the winter.

  17. Sorry, but I have to agree with your husband. :) They say we are going to get some of the dreaded white stuff late tomorrow night and Thurs. and single number temps Fr. & Sat. nights. I need at least 75 degrees. :)
Thanks for reading along. Hope I don't get to boring for you.

  18. It depends - do I have to shovel it and get out in it or can I just watch it , read a book, and sip my tea?
