Our living room tree is decorated with mostly hand blown ornaments. We add one every year, usually something to mark the events of the year. Daughters have some identical ornaments on their tree, we give an ornament each year to their families. When I look at those, I think of them.
The German Pickle Ornament has a great story behind it, one that I was not aware of until our daughter married into a German family. Read the story HERE

I LOVE all the memories.
ReplyDeleteI too have ornaments with memories - - - but they are part of what I have stopped using in order to have more time and for decorating to take me LESS time.
You see, I would get them out, and group them in "categories" and then meticulously space them on the tree so they would be in the "just so" evenly spaced placement that my OCDness craves.
It took HOURS and HOURS.
So, one Christmas I bought red and gold ball ornaments and long red and gold ribbon. I can swirl that ribbon and hang those balls on the tree in a FRACTION of the time it took me to hang the other, more sentimental, ornaments.
But, not to worry - - - I still HAVE the others. In fact, looking at all the vintage ornaments being proudly displayed on other blogs has induced me to dig out SOME of my vintage stuff. I found a new, less time consuming, way to display them this year - - - and there is a POST coming - - - a post in which they are proudly highlighted!
This is a wonderful posting... I want to share a Christmas theme this week on my blog and your Images Inspire!
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas to you from my Garden in the Midwest.
