We just returned from a visit with our kids in Texas. Amy and family live at Denton, about 6 hours away from us. GRANDson Ewan has just turned 3 and he is just the cutest, most lovable little boy! He was glued to us for the weekend and we loved every minute!
The distance, work and obligations to aging parents keep us apart. I need my grandchildren in my life to feel happy, that's just the way I am!
We stayed at Hidden Oak Cabins on Lake Texoma.
Trails led down to Lake Texoma with woods all around. We hiked down to the lake on Saturday afternoon and after the long winter in Arkansas, it sure was great to get outside and enjoy the nice weather. But in the night a cold front sneaked in with thunderstorms that shook the cabin and made a muddy mess outside, keeping us cooped inside with just videos.
How many times can you watch a SpongeBob video? Well, if you are 3 you can watch it over and over...it's funny everytime!
We did have a wonderful visit though and it was down time for our busy kids.
It's snowing at Denton today, this has been a CRAZY winter!
Texoma is my favorite lake around these parts. I know what you mean about your grandchildren. I'm missing mine right now. So glad you enjoyed Sunday here is Texas. The weather was shortlived but they say we are due for another warm up this weekend. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place!!! I am headed to Dallas today to be with my daughter, son in law and sweet granddaughter. 6 hours is too many hours between us!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo important to make the time ...good for you!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great visit with your family. Grandchildren ARE all-important. Especially when you have only one.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun, what a cute little boy! I feel the same way about my grands...they complete me! :D
ReplyDeleteThe area looks great and being with grandkids is the most fun... and as I've often heard said, "our reward for being parents." Enjoy every great moment with them.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great time. The cabins you stayed at look like alot of fun. I think I'll see if Kurt would like to take the kids their sometime. Hope all is well with you.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! The cabins look great - i'm so close but i've never been. Will definitely visit that site. maybe i can plan a short early summer/late spring get away.
ReplyDeleteIt is really hard to be away from grandchildren. They grow so quickly. It looks like you had lovely accommodations and it sounds like you had a great visit. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome cabin and an even awesomer grandson!
ReplyDeleteI cannot thank you enough for the pictures of Lake Texoma! I'm a Cowtown girl but my Poppey (grandfather) lived in Pottsboro as a fishing guide after he retired from the Air Force.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been there in years...life in the Army will do that to you. But I desperately miss home. Maybe when we get back to the states we'll make a trip to the cabins between stations.
Thanks again - Much love from an overseas Army wife,
Jennifer
I totally agreed with you! The best time of our lives is to be with our family, children, grand children & grand grand grand children. Hope you have a fabulous time!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes.,
Kristy
Hi, I live next door to Jennifer in South Korea. She pointe me to your blog. I love the Ozarks, but north of you at Ft. Leonard Wood Mo. That is where my husband and I are going to go after he is done in the Army. I just thought you would get a kick out of someone on the other side of the planet, reading your blog, and longing for home.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all of the comments today! It was a great little cabin and the area is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJennifer~So great to hear from you! I know homesick, we lived in California when Hubby was stationed at McClellan AFB in the 1970's, 2000 miles from home. I can't imagine being in another country, another culture. Reading your blog and enjoying it so much!
Cynthia~Great to get to know you too! So nice that you and Jennifer are next door neighbors, I'm sure you feel like family. We were an Air Force family but not career. Loved hearing from you, come visit GrannyMountain often!
