I'm guessing at the exact number of new things I've learned since I started blogging, but I'd say one good idea a month is pretty close. Next week I'll be celebrating 4 years of sharing my life, cleansing my soul, spilling my beans. There are days I don't have a clue what to write, but I read a few blogs and I see something new to share. That's what happened yesterday when I went for a visit up to Glenda's Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. She's a Missouri blogger, we speak Missourah to each other! She and her husband are retired dairy farmers so I love living vicariously through her, she still milks nearly everyday but just one instead of dozens. She has learned a thing or two since she's been around the block more than once, and there's hardly a visit I don't pick up some tip that saves us money or betters my life. Yesterday when I was leaving my comment I saw she had a neat little option where she could reply to the comments. Now I am slow to notice new things, but I think it was new and I wanted it! So I went to Blogger Help and entered reply to comments and there it was... New Trick #47! You just go into Settings then Comments, change from Full Page to Embedded and POOF you can talk to each other! The full instructions are HERE... If I could just figure out how to add about 2 more hours to each day that would be perfect!

Old Dog, New Trick #47

That is a new trick!! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI must be the last one to know this little tip!
DeleteIt is nice to learn some new thing or be inspired by others...one of the many great reasons to blog.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth! Even after 4 years, I look forward to finding new blogs and new friends. It's been a lifesaver for me, difficult changes in our lives and blogging provides that perspective in your life...something about writing it down!
DeleteIt is new and I found it on another blog and loved the idea. That is where most of my ideas come from.....others. I love the internet!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I just milk about three times a week.
You are one smart cookie Glenda! I've learned so much from your blog and love my visits up to Missouri. I think you are amazing... milking 3x a week!
Deletejust be aware, that setting has been giving lots of readers problems in leaving comments. i had to switch from internet explorer to google chrome in order to be able to load some blogs and comment on them... :)
ReplyDeleteOh no, didn't know this. I sure don't need connection problems. It's doing some funny jumping when it goes to comments... are you seeing that too? I do love being able to answer my comments, but may have to change it back. I'm on Google Chrome already so maybe that will save me from headaches. Thanks for letting us know.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of replying to comments on my own blog. I don't mind if others do it. I still prefer to respond via email... however, some STILL haven't enabled theirs.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started blogging I had everything everything disabled, didn't want spam, didn't want anonymous, didn't want my email "out there." A few months passed and gradually I warmed up to the idea that bloggers were for the most part nice people. So what if someone leaves spam, I just delete and go on! Anyway I can stay on top of this, email defeats me more days than not!
DeleteHahaha, how funny! Because someone else was asking about this, I came back here to check your link and saw that you had responded to MY comment. Because I didn't subscribe to it, I wouldn't have even known you had responded, until I came back to check the link you had above.
DeleteI love doing comments,I leave comments every day on as many blogs as I can,I just plain love the blogging world, you can learn so much, and make new friends. Blessings Jane
ReplyDeleteI'm really very serious about learning so much in the last 4 years of blogging! I did know how to turn on the computer... but the rest of this blogging world was NEW to me! It's fun and every week I find new "favorite" blogs to read! Thanks so much for coming for a visit...
DeleteI'm giving it a shot, Joy...thanks to you and my friend, Glenda too!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteI tread a little "lightly" when I do anything to change the blog... I still haven't forgotten the day I erased all my pictures with one click of a mouse!
DeleteAnother wonderful thing about embedded comments is that I can just leave a comment right here on the same page instead of having to click a link to do it! Thank you for making this change!
ReplyDeleteI see most of you have this enabled already, I need to do a little window shopping each time I go to your blogs and then copycat!
DeleteWell I didn't know this either!
ReplyDeleteDoes it still send an email directly to the person who wrote the comment? I know that I never go back to a post just to see if my comment has been responded to.
Thanks for the tip!!!!
Grace
Grace, I don't think it does send an email. I am much better going back to my posts than reading my emails though! Sometimes we have 80 a day so it defeats me!
